Created by performance maker Louise White, and premiered in 2018 in Project Arts Centre Dublin, this production celebrated the difficult, uplifting ceremony and ritual of a funeral.
Both Louise and I drew on our experiences of funerals of close family members. In Ireland, funerals are a hugely social event; sad, of course, but often with an aspect of celebration of the deceased person’s life. The show was made to bring the audience through the mundane, painful, absurd, challenging process, while giving them a profound sense of the importance of truly living your life while you can.
